OB Education and Support

We offer classes and workshops that address issues relevant to expecting parents. Offerings include:

Childbirth Education
Similar to Lamaze, these courses are held in six weekly sessions. Simple and safe techniques are emphasized to promote comfort during pregnancy, labor and postpartum. Daytime and evening classes are available year-round. Call 231-876-7403 to find a class that meets your needs. Refresher courses are also available.

Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding basics are taught in one separate session. Once the breastfeeding process begins, lactation instructors are available for personal consultation. Call 231-876-7403 to schedule.

Car Seat Safety Class
Learn proper techniques for installing a car seat

Which child safety seat is "the best" for my child? Which child safety seat is escape-proof? How can I install the safety seat securely? The Car Seat Safety class is a class that will answer all of these commonly asked questions regarding infant/child seat safety by a certified car seat technician. If you are an expectant parent or already a parent of a child 0 to 8 years of age, this class is for you.

Classes are one night only from 7–8:30 p.m. This class is free to the community. Pre-registration is required. If you would like more information or would like to register, please call the Family Birth Center at 231-876-7403.

"Baby Steps" Perinatal Support Group
